Michael was born in Poland in 1967. His early contact with nature and animals played a major role in his personal development and later interests. As a young boy, Michael would spend many hours hunting with his stepfather in the forest, meadowland and lakes. From these experiences Michael was able to gain knowledge of nature and animal behaviour. During this time, he became really interested in the different species of animals and drew them in the wild, parks, zoos and reserves.

He is an avid photographer who likes to go out in the wild, trying to catch the elusive roe buck in the morning sun, or the heart-stopping moment of the first good look at a stag between the trees. This thirst for knowledge about natural environments and inhabitants inspired him to capture them in his paintings. Combining his passion for creating art and protecting wildlife, Michael hopes that some of his work will bring back a moment in time for the viewer and invoke an emotion specific to them. His work is also intended to bring the observer closer to something they would not normally be exposed to or to take the time to look at and admire.

Michael has always been very passionate about realism. With no formal art training, his best learning experience has been by trial and error, followed by many more hours in his studio striving to reproduce that perfection of light, composition, contrast and harmony of colour that he observed whilst in the wild. However, Michael drew a lot of his inspiration from master artists like Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski, Ivan Schischkin, Józef Brandt whose work is very distinctive. He was always amazed at how they were able to capture the spirit of the animals and wildlife with such unparalleled ease in their artwork. This was something that Michael aspired to achieve in his artwork as well.

Michael has worked as a professional hand engraver and designer for the last 18 years specialising in the fine ''Bulino'' style of engraving and gold inlay, he is currently working for Able Engraving & Design in the UK. Their client list includes the world-famous London gunmakers James Purdey & Sons, Holland & Holland and Watson Bros.

His paintings and engraving are the result of many hours spent observing, sketching and photographing wildlife and their unique habitats.

Michael presently resides with his wife in Horley, South East England.
